The "Supervise" feature in timeghost allows supervisors to monitor, manage, and edit the working hours of their assigned employees. This feature applies exclusively to working hours – project times are managed separately via project roles, project settings, and workspace settings.

1. Who can use the "Supervise" feature?

The feature is designed for supervisors who have been assigned specific employees in timeghost. This assignment is made in each user's personal settings, where an administrator or the user themselves can set their supervisor.

What permissions do supervisors have with "Supervise"?

Supervisors can:

✅ View the working hours of their assigned employees.

✅ Create, edit, and delete working hours for their assigned employees.

✅ Check-out their assigned employees.

✅ Monitor rule violations of their employees and receive notifications.

✅ Configure their rule break notifications individually (immediate, daily, or weekly via email or Microsoft Teams).

What permissions do they not have?

❌ No access to project times: Project time tracking is managed through the project role system.

No global visibility: Supervisors can only see the working hours of their assigned employees, not those of other teams or the entire company.

No administrative rights for projects or general settings: They cannot manage projects, clients, or general workspace settings.

2. How does "Supervise" differ from project roles?

While the "Supervise" feature is focused on working hours, project times and permissions are managed separately:

Project time & role management

  • Project times are recorded per project and depend on the employee’s project role.

  • Only Project managers or Admins can adjust permissions for project times in project settings.

  • A supervisor with "Supervise" permissions does not automatically have access to project times for their assigned employees – this depends on their project role.

Important: Even though a supervisor can edit working hours for assigned employees, this does not apply to project times.

3. Conclusion

The feature is ideal for supervisors who do not require full admin rights but need to monitor and manage the working hours of their team members. It is particularly useful for:

Team leads, department heads, and shift managers who need to ensure compliance with legal or company working time regulations.

HR managers who want to track rule violations, such as exceeding maximum working hours.

Project managers who need to oversee both project-related and general working hours of their team members.

Important: If project times need to be managed, permissions must be assigned via the project settings. The "Supervise" feature applies only to working hours and does not affect project time tracking.
